Congo Pinball

Congo is also known as a feature film. The pinball machine features an absolutely great sound system.

The Congo pinball machine tells the story of an expedition into the jungles of Zaire, where the goal is to hunt for diamonds. Collecting diamonds becomes the player’s main task, leading first to the lock and then into multiball. The opening skill shot is achievable: shoot the ball diagonally across the playfield and hit the lit target to score the first millions. Skilled players aim directly for the kickback to rack up even more points. Then the diamond fever begins. The lit gems guide the way over ramps and loops, and the lock is quickly reached. When the volcano erupts, multiballs pour out onto the player.

But beware: gorillas everywhere try to make life difficult for the player. So quickly complete G-R-A-Y and, on the second playfield—visible through a window—shoot the CONGO letters, defeat the gorilla, and collect even more diamonds.

Even more diamonds await in the extensive cave system. In this video mode, the player must choose between different tunnels—“Choose wisely.” If not, death awaits. Another fun video mode is a boat trip down a raging river, where rocks and hippopotamuses must be avoided.

On the Congo pinball machine, the ball flows smoothly, the rule set explains itself even to less experienced players, and this excellent machine does not need to hide behind any other pinball game.

The “Midnight Madness” mode is a very special highlight. Every night when midnight strikes, the pinball machine transforms for a few minutes into a wild comic-style splash game. Instead of the normal rule progression, multiballs occur constantly, and the dot matrix display shows only comic bubbles such as “Bong,” “Bang,” and “Splash.” This is great fun and gives the machine an extra boost in appeal—especially on weekends, when you are in the middle of a game and suddenly, at midnight, the machine goes dark and radically changes its gameplay for a few minutes.
